Kirk's dream come true or not?

Anyone who knows Kirk knows his dreams has always been to have a son who is as sports obsessed as he is.

Above that his ultimate dream has always been to have a son who loves hockey and wants to play.

Well that dream has finally come true on his 3rd try. Technically, his 4th try but I wouldn't let Hayley play hockey...not that I don't think she could do it, but I only have one girl and I enjoy watching girl sports also and well since the boys wouldn't cheer or do gymnastics it was up to her to fulfil my wishes! (ok I'm kidding she really does love the sports she plays and I do not force her to participate!)

Zack did try hockey (and several other sports) but he just isn't a sports kid. Connor has learned how to ice skate and likes it but had no interest in actually playing ice hockey which completely bummed Kirk out because Connor is a great and fast skater :(

So here we are Riley to the rescue! For the past two years Riley has been in our yard playing every single sport we have equipment for. Anyone who has been here for a visit just laughs at how he goes from one sport to the next for hours. He has been just as anxious as Kirk to become old enough to play any sport and Hockey happens to be the first. It has worked out great...he loves it!!!

He plays at Lesuire Rinks; he took three learn how to skate programs this year and moved on to the PrePepsi Kids League. Where surprisingly Uncle Chris Jones is his coach! Chris' son Chase is also on his team.

Riley is one of the youngest and smallest kids on the team but he does his best to keep up. He skates pretty good and doesn't fall down much. He is aware of where the puck is and tries to get there. Not always in time but he does know what he is supposed to be doing on the ice.

Almost every day since he started the first learn to skate clinic Riley has woke up and asked "is it ice hockey day", when it isn't he is miserable.

Everyday when Kirk gets home from work (or wakes on his day off) Riley says "let's play hockey" Kirk was all giddy when this first started back in September; judging by the look on his face when he gets home tired I am thinking this obsession of his has come back to bite him in the butt :)

Some days when he gets home Kirk doesn't even make it in the house for an hour because Riley was already outside waiting for him.

Riley wears his roller blades around the house and does everything with them on and a stick in his hand. He randomly speed skates from room to room and doesn't care what person (or animal) is in his way!

Let's just say Riley is even more obsessed than Kirk is!!!!

Here is a little video of Riley's last game....Coach Chris is in the blue shirt with the 9 on the back...

KeeKee is 9

Connor Maxx is 9 today!!!

Time sure does fly...
Connor's nickname is KeeKee because when Riley started talking that's how he said Connor and it just stuck. However he does prefer the name Maxx to either Connor or KeeKee and has asked if we could change his name.
Connor is our goofiest child and often the trouble maker. He is the one who will bother everyone every single chance he has. He will trip people when they walk by and when you are tying to yell at him he looks at you with his infectious smile and replies with the most comical phrases. Once he was being bad and I looked at him and said, "Connor what is wrong with you" and he looked at me and said, "Everything". We all burst out laughing
Connor is by far our grossest child. He loves all the most disgusting animals (see the post Connor's New Pet). Every day he watches Animal Planet or Discovery Channel. He is happiest when he is a dirty mess.
Connor is our least dressed child. He strips down to his boxers everytime he walks in the door and fights with us when we tell him to put pants on. I am pretty sure that if we would let him he wouldn't even wear boxers.
Connor does very well in school. Its just comes easy to him. He comes home everyday from school and gets right to his homework without ever being told and often completes it with no help (Ithink this is carried over from when I had cancer and was usually sleeping when he came home from school and he would just sit by me and do his work before waking me up -- even though I was awake watching him). This is a very good thing which will hopefully come in handy later since he is the class clown...every teacher he has ever had has told us how funny they think he is. That I'm sure will be a bad thing in High School!
Connor is very caring; when I was dealing with my cancer he would sit by me all day and was the first one to do anything. If I just said I was cold he would get a blanket and cover me...if I was thirsty he would run and get me water. He was a huge part of my recovery.
Legos are Connor's favorite toy and he can often be found building something wonderful. He can take the biggest set and have it completed in no time with no help. He also loves his Nintendo DS!
Connor's favorite color changes everytime you ask him (it must depend on his mood) he alternates between blue, red and black.
Connor loves any kind of chicken. Once he asked me what we were having for dinner and I said pork chops; his reply was, "Oh no, if it ain't chicken I ain't eating it!!" Needless to say chicken comes in every shape, size and color in our house ;)
He hates ketchup and mustard (mostly any sauces).

Connor plays baseball and football.

Today for Connor's birthday we went to Red Robin for dinner and gave him a Lego City Firehouse set and a DS game.
Friday he is having some friends over after school for a party.
